The apicoectomy (Endodontic surgery)
After endodontic treatment, when symptoms or infection persists around the root, you may be referred to an endodontist for an apicoectomy.
The procedure takes place under local anesthesia and consists of opening the gum just above the tooth in order to discover the bone and then remove any infected tissue. The endodontist then resects a few millimeters from the end of the root and places a small filling in order to seal the canal.
